01Our commitment
Discover The Sanctuary is committed to making https://thesanctuarylakewylie.com usable by as many people as possible, including visitors who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification, speech input or reduced-motion settings. Accessibility is treated as an ongoing obligation, not a one-time project.
02Standard we target
This site aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, the standard referenced by Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 508. Conformance is a target and a continuing effort; no claim of complete or certified conformance is made.
03Measures in place
- Semantic HTML with a single main heading per page, ordered heading structure and landmark regions.
- A visible skip-to-content link and full keyboard operability with visible focus states.
- Descriptive alternative text on informative images, and empty alt on decorative ones.
- Colour combinations chosen for contrast, with information never conveyed by colour alone.
- Responsive layouts that reflow at 320px and support text resizing to 200%.
- Descriptive link text, labelled form controls, and tables with proper header cells and captions.
- Automated accessibility and image-alt checks that run against every route before changes ship.
04Known limitations
Some areas are still being improved:
- Interactive maps and diagrams convey geography visually; textual descriptions are provided alongside, but detail may be reduced for screen-reader users.
- Some third-party embeds and outbound partner sites are outside our control and may not meet the same standard.
- Older photography may carry shorter alternative text than newly published imagery.
If a barrier blocks you, tell us and an accessible alternative will be provided.
